Real-time hybrid testing for efficiency assessment of magnetorheological dampers to mitigate train-induced vibrations in bridges

The dynamic response of railway bridges is important to consider, as the high velocity loading from trains increases risk resonance. Increasing train speeds and loads result in a need for adaptable properties bridges. One solution install magnetorheological dampers, structure originating moving could be controlled by alternating input current damper. However, complexity such devices results difficulties accurately model their behaviour. From this context, real-time hybrid simulations, consisting numerical bridge full-scale physical damper test frame, are presented paper. novelty present paper application RTHS engineering substructure combination with dampers. simulations show that deck responses can reduced permissible levels.
